Abstract

Due to the importance of Guidance and counseling in the present dispensation, this study is on the influence of guidance programme on academic achievement of ss2 students in Toto Local government area of Nasarawa state.

Quantitative analysis was used in the study and from our findings came to the following conclusions;

  1. There are inadequate number of qualified guidance counsellors hinders effective guidance and counselling services in the study area.
  2. Guidance and counselling facilities are inadequate in secondary schools in Nasarawa Toto Local Government Area.
  3. The guidance and counselling services offered in secondary schools in Nasarawa Toto Local Government Area are not adequate.
  4. The guidance councilors in the schools are not encouraged by the government, teachers and parents.
